Hope for Hearts

The Exercise Medicine Program represents the first pediatric program in Canada on physical activity and sport recommendation for children with heart disease.
Modern medicine has given us the possibility to save many children born with congenital heart disease, but it is our responsibility now to make sure that they will have a good quality of life and that they live up to their maximal capability.
Being able to safely be active (by playing sports and/or playing with siblings and peers) will positively improve the way these kids look at their life, it will contribute to increase their self-esteem and their physical and mental well-being.
The Exercise Medicine Program focus on physical activity recommendations and healthy lifestyle behavior with the goal to help reducing the negative effects of a sedentary lifestyle and therefore improve not only exercise function, but also improve children wellbeing and neurodevelopment.
