The Heart & Stroke and Nolen Hicks Stroke Imaging Lab for Children (SILC)

SickKids is working to establish a world-leading neuroimaging research laboratory focused on enhancing our understanding of the causes of paediatric stroke and promoting rapid diagnosis and treatment. Based at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto, the Stroke Imaging Laboratory for Children (SILC) serves as a home for physicians, imaging scientists, and technicians who are undertaking ambitious new research.

Stroke affects one in 2,800 births in Canada, and the incidence is increasing. Many pediatric stroke survivors face chronic disability and handicap because of deficits in sensory, fine and gross motor, visual, cognitive and behavioural function. And yet, paediatric stroke remains an under-recognized and under-researched entity. Thank you for your gift to better research, diagnose and treat paediatric stroke in kids here in Canada and across the globe.
