It is with great sadness that we recognize the passing of Eleanor Lough (McDonald) on Sunday, April 15th, 2018, at the age of 92. Eleanor lived an extraordinary life. She came to Canada, alone, as a war bride from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, England. Her courage and determined nature would not fade over the years but become the cornerstones of her character. She was predeceased by her husband James (2001). Survived by her children Jane Mulligan (Rick), Malcolm Lough (Kathy) and Maureen Dumont (Tim). Loving Grandma to her 5 grandchildren Andrew (Lisa), Graham (EB), Stephen, Colin and Jeffrey (Breanne). Great-grandma to three beautiful little ones...Addison, Lucas and Mackenzie.
Those who knew Eleanor are better for it. Eleanor had a zest for life, twinkle in her eye and witty sense of humour. She was always eager to offer 'advice' and 'state her opinion'. Eleanor elicitated great joy in igniting coversation with her daring opinions. She loved nothing more than to be surrounded by family, talking politics. Eleanor took great pride in talking about her children and was never short of stories from their early years. She adored watching her grandchildren grow up and wanted nothing more than for her boys to be happy and successful. In her most recent role as GG (great-grandma), she loved nothing more than to cuddle up with the babies. She could often be found encouraging the stubborn, obstinate ways only a toddler can exhibit.
To pay tribute and honour our beloved Eleanor, the family has chosen to support the Orthopaedic Clinic at SickKids. It was a cause near and dear to Eleanor's heart, as her great-granddaughter, Addison, is a patient in the Orthopaedic department.
Many thanks for your kind words and contributions,
The Lough, Mulligan and Dumont Families
