Kate's Coasting for a Cause
Thank you for dropping by. Those who know me are likely aware this fundraiser embodies two things I'm very passionate about... Roller Coasters and helping others, and for those who don't know me, "Hi, my name is Kate!". This year I am participating in Yukon Striker's "First Ride" Fundraiser in support of SickKids.
Throwback to the 80's
My Parents introduced me to roller coasters at the age of 4, I'll never forget the story about how they were scolded by a few guests at Canada’s Wonderland after we exited the Ghoster Coaster; I was apparently crying at the top of my lungs as we exited the ride and some felt the need to scold my Parents for "forcing" me onto a ride I didn't want to go on... well, I wasn't crying because I didn't want to go on, I was crying because my Parent's wouldn't take me on for the 10th time in a row!
Lending a Helping Hand
Over the year’s roller coasters have become a huge part of my life, and equally so has my passion for helping others. In 2008 I participated in the "First to Ride" fundraiser at Canada's Wonderland prior to Behemoth opening to the public and that was an experience I will never forget; I was able to share the momentous occasion with my Dad, fundraising participants, and some of the children who would benefit from the funds raised. A few years later I participated in another fundraiser via Canada's Wonderland called "Coasting for Kids" where I marathoned on Behemoth and successfully completed 41 Laps prior to throwing in the towel.
A Cause that Hits Home
Supporting SickKids means a lot to me; unfortunately I lost a friend of mine to a brain tumour in Grade 8, and in my adult life I have several friends who have taken their little ones to SickKids over the years for assistance with various health conditions, illnesses, etc.
Kindness and Generosity Goes a Long Way
Please help me reach my goal by donating to "Kate’s Coasting for a Cause!" in support of SickKids knowing that every donation will make a difference in the lives of so many.
Thank you!
Kate
